Claude for Financial Advisors: What RIAs Get and Cost
Claude for financial advisors: what RIAs get, where cost lives, and where the tool stops. A plain buyer's brief, not advice.

claude for financial advisors is Anthropic's suite of connectors and workflow skills for advisory firms. It does not replace your custodian, your CRM, or your judgment. It connects systems you already run, then gathers, organizes, summarizes, compares, and presents. The advisor keeps the recommendation.
That split is the product. Most firms miss it when they shop claude for financial advisors as a new planning platform.
This is a plain-English buyer's brief: what the firm gets, where cost lives, where the tool stops, and what you still build. It is not compliance, legal, or investment advice. Check your own obligations before client data touches a new system.
What is Claude for Financial Advisors?
Claude for Financial Advisors is a suite of AI connectors and workflow skills from Anthropic, built for advisors and wealth firms. The launch was mid September 2026, so this is an evergreen buying question, not breaking news.
Connectors bring advisor-system data into Claude. Skills use that information for meeting prep, portfolio analysis, and compliance checks, always in service of the advisor's own judgment and style.
Peter Nolan said the goal is not to replace the tools advisors already use. He compared Anthropic to a symphony conductor helping the other parts talk to each other. By his estimate, advisors run an average of about seven tools.
Third party coverage is thin. Read the primary pages: the official solutions page, the resources article, and the plugin repo.
What is included (connectors and skills)?
The resources article is the current connector list for claude for wealth advisors.
Charles Schwab connects Claude to Schwab Advisor Services custodial data, including balances, positions, transactions, cost basis, alerts, and money-movement status. SS&C Black Diamond brings portfolio, performance, holdings, and rebalancing data so advisors can spot clients out of tolerance and surface tax loss harvesting opportunities. Orion brings portfolio reporting and Redtail CRM insights for household reviews, opportunity analysis, meeting prep, and follow-up. Envestnet lets advisors summarize Tamarac accounts and households in natural language, with a financial plan snapshot from MoneyGuide.
Wealth.com gives Claude a structured view of each client's estate and tax picture, including trust and will summaries, tax return insights, and the full balance sheet. CAIS opens its alternative investment platform so advisors can query fund data and see a client's public and private holdings together. Wealthbox connects client records and meeting history for onboarding, meeting prep, and follow-up.
The claude for financial advisors plugin is a set of skills written as plain instructions in Markdown and JSON. It holds no client data. The GitHub project is a reference implementation. It is not actively maintained or monitored, and it is not accepting contributions.
Skills from that repo do the daily work. /pre-meeting builds a client review prep doc with snapshot, relationship signals, open items, portfolio review, planning topics, agenda, and talking points. /portfolio-rebalance-review reviews performance, drift versus the IPS or model, and model mapping, then drafts a tax-aware rebalance plan for the advisor to evaluate. /estate-and-tax-brief cross-checks the estate plan against actual account titling and beneficiaries and does a prior-year tax look-back. /compliance pre-checks client-facing material against the SEC Marketing Rule, antifraud, books-and-records, and Reg BI, then produces a findings table, suggested disclosures, and a clean redraft.
Each skill pulls from whichever connectors are live and falls back to paste or upload when a system is not connected. The advisor must explicitly approve any action that writes back to an external system, such as CRM updates or client drafts.
Claude gathers, organizes, summarizes, compares, and presents. The advisor exercises judgment, makes the recommendation, and gives the advice.
How much does Claude for Financial Advisors cost?
Do not budget claude for financial advisors cost off a blog post. Current plan tiers sit on the official pages. We are not restating plan prices.
Peter Nolan told WealthManagement.com that pricing is transparent and usage-based. He also said that if advisors use it a lot they will pay a lot, and they will be getting a lot of value for it.
The plugin itself is free. Advisors need Claude Co-Work and the Claude for Financial Advisors plug-in. The advisor plugin is available on Enterprise plans, which include audit logs for recordkeeping.
Opinion: the sticker is the wrong question. Ask which hours this replaces. Assembling a review pack. Updating the CRM. Pulling account data before a meeting. That math looks different at a small RIA than at a larger wealth firm. Financial services work only pays off if you can name the hours.
What can it not do?
It does not carry the advice. A draft is not a recommendation. A compliance pre-check is not a compliance review.
The /compliance skill screens client-facing material and hands you findings, suggested disclosures, and a redraft. Someone qualified at your firm still reviews them. Nothing here is compliance, legal, or investment advice. Check your own obligations before you put client work through it.
Writes do not happen in the background. CRM updates and client drafts need the advisor's explicit approval.
Opinion: failure modes show up when firms treat a draft as finished work. Stale connector data nobody checked. A clean memo the advisor did not read. A write with no documented reason. The tool will not save you from those. Your review workflow will.
Is your firm ready? A readiness checklist
Run this checklist before anything touches production.
- Clean the records the connectors will read. A skill can only summarize what is actually in the system. When a connector is missing, the skill falls back to paste or upload.
- Name one owner for the rollout, the connector list, and the review standard.
- Write the approval path on day one. Who signs a draft. Who approves a write. Where that approval is logged. Enterprise audit logs help recordkeeping. They do not replace your process.
- Finish the security and privacy review before client data moves. The plugin file itself holds no client data. Live connectors are a different question, and your firm has to answer it.
- Time one workflow before and after. Meeting prep is the obvious candidate. If the clock does not move, you bought a demo.
A typical advisory practice spends only a sixth of its time in client meetings, according to Kitces research cited on Anthropic's resources page. Opinion: that is the pile of work this product is aimed at. If you want a structured way to pick the first workflow, start with the AI Blueprint.
What integrations do you still need?
The plugin is the starting point, not the finished system.
Connectors cover the systems on the official list. Anything else falls back to paste or upload. That is what the repo says each skill does when a system is not connected.
Your review standard is not in the plugin. A skill does not know how your firm documents a rebalance, a tax conversation, or a prospect handoff until someone writes that down.
Every write still needs an audit trail that satisfies your own recordkeeping obligations. We are not telling you what those obligations are. Check them.
Opinion: this is the work that decides whether the rollout sticks. A firm that skips it ends up with a demo account and a nice story. The firms that get value wire the tool into the stack they already run, define what each skill may read, and log what it does. That wiring is the how it works part, not a setting inside the plugin.
Demand is not the constraint. Over four in 10 American workers say they do not know who to go to for good financial or retirement planning advice, according to EBRI's 2026 Retirement Confidence Survey, as cited on Anthropic's page. If intake and follow-up are the hours you want back, look at digital employees after the diagnostic, not before the data is clean.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Claude for Financial Advisors?
Claude for Financial Advisors is Anthropic's suite of connectors and workflow skills for advisory and wealth firms. Connectors bring data from systems the firm already uses. Skills help with tasks such as meeting prep, portfolio analysis, and compliance checks. The advisor still makes the recommendation.
How much does Claude for Financial Advisors cost?
Do not take plan prices from a blog post. Current tiers sit on Anthropic's official pages. Peter Nolan has said pricing is transparent and usage-based, and that heavier use costs more. The plug-in itself is free. Advisors also need Claude Co-Work, and the advisor plugin is on Enterprise plans.
What is the Claude for Financial Advisors plugin?
The plugin is a set of skills written as plain instructions in Markdown and JSON. It holds no client data. The public GitHub project is a reference implementation. It is not actively maintained or monitored, and it is not accepting contributions.
Can Claude for Financial Advisors replace my compliance review?
No. A compliance skill can pre-check client-facing material and hand back findings, suggested disclosures, and a redraft. That is not a compliance review. This is not compliance, legal, or investment advice. Check your own obligations.
Is Claude for Financial Advisors ready for a small advisory firm?
The product can fit a small firm if the records are clean, one person owns the rollout, and writes still need advisor approval. Opinion: size matters less than whether you can time one workflow before and after and show the hours moved.
